Morels: the people

I occasionally get emails from other Morels from around the planet. It's interesting how dispersed the name is. Most of the time the people are just saying HI - we've got the same name! Other times they can be just plain rude.

In an effort to connect all these dispersed namesakes I am posting the emails I receive from other Morel's (i.e. not direct family...)

The Morel side of my family comes from the south of France, north of Bordeaux.  I don't really know too much more than that - but one thing I had heard is that my Grandfather once had someone trace the family tree, and supposedly it leads back somewhere somehow to Joan of Arc.
 
I'll send off a few emails and see if this document isn't still in existance - cuz it would be good for the site...

just hello from Bryan Morel, a displaced Kiwi now living in Edmonton Alberta. Came here 27 years ago and stayed, but all my siblings moved to Oz. My brother is also Michael. Our family originated in France about 200 years ago, went to England where they became chefs for some minor royalty. About 1870 my great grandfather Raymond Morel, went to Fiji, he was the first man to raise beef in Fiji and he also had a small steamboat that he used for ferrying goods. In 1907 he moved to N.Z. where he died in 1920. My grandfather was his youngest son Claude (Carl) Raymond and his only son  William Raqymond is my father.
