FoundLocally was a very interesting idea. When all the major search engines were being overwhelmed by the growth of content on the web - and more accurately, users were being overwhelmed with the 100,000's of results they received for even the simplest things they were searching for.

So FoundLocally turned the tables and created a specific search engine for each city! That way people could search for anything they wanted in their own city - and find the 5-10 results that really mattered to them.

However, the project lost some momentum due to a domain name dispute... and eventually became irrelevant as the Telco yellowpages made their way online.
